Ellyse Perry is a popular Australian football and cricket player. She is one of very few Australians to have represented her country in two different sports, and the only player ever to have played for Australia in both Cricket and football ( soccer) World Cups. Her full name is Ellyse Alexandra Perry. She’s an all-rounder, equally skilled as a right-handed batswoman and a fast-medium bowler.

Ellyse was born on 3 November 1990 in Wahroonga, a suburb of Sydney, Australia, in the family of former cricketer Mark Perry and doctor Kathy Perry. She has a younger brother named Damian Perry. She attended ‘Beecroft Public School’ and then in 2008, graduated from’ Pymble Ladies’ College. Ellyse is studying social science and economics at the ‘University of Sydney.’
During her school days, Ellyse played tennis, athletics, touch football, and golf, along with soccer and cricket. At ‘Pymble Ladies College, ‘ she was the captain of the college’s athletics and cricket team.
She became friends with future Australian teammate Alyssa Healy at the age of 9, and they played cricket together throughout childhood. Healy occasionally referred to her as ” Dags” because of her ill-fitting uniform at the junior level, though Perry is more generally known by her nickname ” Pez”.

In her WNCL career, her first wicket was of Karen Rolton who was in the form of her life. In her second WNCL match, she batted for the first time and scored 12 runs and also picked up 3 wickets for 21 runs. The match resulted in a 25-run win for her team. She went wicketless in her coming two matches. In the fifth match of WNCL against Queensland, she scored 37 runs, picked up 2 wickets for 10 runs and helped her team win by 66 runs.
In the penultimate match, she went away wicketless gave away 51 runs and was left out for another game. Ellyse ended her first season for New South Wales with 66 runs at an average of 13.20 and picked up 9 wickets at an average of 24.00 from 7 matches. The hard work had worked and New South Wales was awarded the trophy as they were on top of the points table.
Women’s Big Bash League career
Ellyse became the first player and also became the Captain of Sydney Sixers in the first season of WBBL, and carried the team to playoffs instead of losing the first 6 matches.
International cricket career of Ellyse Perry
Ellyse Perry made her WODI debut when she was just at the age of 16 against New Zealand and was the youngest to represent Australia in Cricket. In her first match, she took 2 wickets for 37 runs from eight overs. She went on to score over 3000 runs and became the 3rd player in Women’s cricket to pick up 150 wickets in an ODI.
At the age of 17 years, she made her test debut against England in 2008 and was the youngest Australian to play tests. She picked up 3 wickets and scored 27 runs in the match against England.
Ellyse picked up 31 wickets and scored a total of 624 runs so far in her test career and also became the fourth woman to hit two consecutive Ashes Test centuries after Claire Taylor, Betty Wilson, and Enid Bakewell.
